Smoke from registers

I have a 12 yr old 3 ton Goodman heat pump with a 15kw heater coil. I HAD SMOKE COMING OUT OF THE REGISTERS TODAY WHEN THE HEAT COILS CAME ON. The heat coils have been on several times lately because of the unusual below freezing temps. What do you think caused this? Continue
